Georgia Rhythm
The Atlanta Rhythm Section
Living out of a suitcase,
sleeping in hotel rooms,
rent-a-cars and airport bars and dog day afternoonns
My occupation is a picker
and music is my game
sometimes it makes me crazy;
but I would not change a thing
Chorus:
So lay down a back beat, crank up your trusty Gibson
Let's give it everything we got just one more time
Loving the life we're living
Playing that Georgia rhythm
Nothin' else ever made me feel so fine
Four O'Clock in the morning
waiting for a plane
pass around the bottle, Lord, and we don't feel no pain
Life out here on the highway
has its ups and downs
but last night the Georgia rhythm
tore up another town
Repeat Chorus (So lay down....)
Rising above the madness
Homeward bound again
to normal ways and lazy days and old familiar friends
Some conversations with my lady
Some love long overdue
God knows I hate to leave her
But I got a job to do
Chorus Word Variation 1:
So lay down a back beat, crank up your trusty Gibson, son
Let's give it everything we got
just one more time
Loving the life we're living
Playing that Georgia rhythms
Making music moving on down the line
one more time
Chorus Word Variation 2:
So lay down a back beat, crank up your trusty Gibson
Let's give it everything we got
just one more time...one more time
Loving the life we're living
Playing that Georgia rhythm
Nothing else every made me feel this fine
On Wednesday I drive to Memphis then hop a plane to Columbia, SC for my interview on Thursday. I'm bringing the laptop so I should be able to hook up and get online, but I'm not sure how much time I'll have Wednesday and Thursday evenings. I can handle living out of a suitcase for a couple of days, but I do miss home
Wherever home may end up being.
I'm not saying the mosquitoes are thick this year but I spent a couple of hours outside on Saturday and Sunday trying to get the old Monte Carlo running again (it developed an intake manifold gasket leak) and I felt like I needed a transfusion after I came back inside! I wonder if garlic would ward off those bloodsuckers like it reputedly wards off vampires? I made a lot of progress, anyway. I could probably have it running again by this weekend if I was home all week but since I need to prepare for the trip and then be away for a couple of days I doubt I'll get to work on it again until Sunday at the earliest. I might reinstall one more component so that the engine is closed and safe from vermin finding their way inside the engine, but other than that the garage is closed until the weekend.
Speaking of vermin, I wished I had my camera this morning. There was a medium-sized (about the size of a very large housecat) armadillo lying deceased in the road near my house. The carcass was in very good condition so I wanted to get a photo to show to those of you who have never seen an armadillo before. They look like an armor-plated rat or opossum, quite an odd creature and not very common this far north. I also have a photo I need to upload from my camera. When I returned home from work last Friday afternoon there was a brown rabbit just sitting on my back lawn. I think it must have lived in the drainage ditch behind my house and the torrential downpour we had at lunch made it seek higher ground. You'd think we were living in a menagerie!

I decided to resurrect my dA page and start updating it. I've taken hundreds of photos in the two years since updating but I usually bulk upload them to my Fotki account for storage and sharing. I like to choose my favorites and post them here, though. My Fotki is for collecting memories, I post everything there. Reference images and every photo I take. This page is for the photos I really like, or the ones that tell a story.
I was thinking of you and your mom over the holidays. I hope things are going well for your family and for your mom. Your sister seems to be going great in school but I had no doubts she would.
